Payouts

How and when do I get paid?

We pay you by direct deposit for every order. Card-paid orders are scheduled 5 days after delivery, and invoiced orders take longer.

We pay you by direct deposit (ACH) for every order, minus the CaterCow fee. In-house orders carry no commission, so their CaterCow fee is usually $0 (see Fees on In-House Orders). For an order paid by card, we schedule the payout for 5 days after delivery. The video above walks through your Payouts page.

To get paid, your legal entity needs a bank account. Go to Legal & Bank Accounts in your dashboard’s sidebar, open your legal entity, and click Bank Accounts. See How do I add and manage my bank accounts? for the details.

Check your payouts

1. From your orders page, open Payouts, under Finance in the sidebar.

2. The Upcoming tab lists the payouts we’ve scheduled. Each row shows the payout code, the amount, the Scheduled Date we’ll send it, the order it’s for, its status, and the last four digits of the bank account it goes to.

3. A payout shows as pending until we send it. Until then, its amount can still change if the customer adjusts the tip.

4. Click Past to see your payout history. Each payout we’ve sent shows as complete.

5. For your bookkeeping, click a year under Download Accounting Spreadsheet, or click All. The spreadsheet lists each order and its payout, with the delivery fee, CaterCow fee, tip, sales tax, and payout date broken out.

6. Payouts go to the bank account on your legal entity. To add or change that account, open Legal & Bank Accounts, right below Payouts in the sidebar.

When each payout arrives

  • Orders paid by card. Most customers pay by card when they order. Within 10 hours of delivery, the payout shows up as pending on your Payouts page. We send it 5 days after delivery, which leaves time for the customer to adjust the tip.
  • Orders paid by invoice. A few of our larger corporate customers pay by invoice. These payouts take longer, because the customer pays us first and then we pay you.

To see how an order is being paid, open the order and scroll to Payouts at the bottom of the page. Until its payout is scheduled, a note there tells you whether the customer is paying by invoice and when to expect the payout.

Before your first payout

Stripe, our payments processor, needs to verify your business and identity before we can send you money. See How do I verify my identity with Stripe to get paid?.

If you run several locations or brands, you might want more than one legal entity, so their payouts and tax documents stay separate. Each one has its own bank accounts. At tax time, see Where do I find my 1099-K tax document?
