General Questions

What fees will I see on my order?

What the Delivery, Service Fee, Restaurant Surcharge, Sales Tax, and Tip lines on your order mean.

On this page

Most orders have a delivery fee, a service fee, and sales tax, plus an optional tip. You see each one, with its exact amount, at checkout before you place your order.

What each line means

  • Delivery (Delivery Fee on your receipt): Delivery fees are set for each delivery area, so yours depends on your delivery address. For some restaurants it also grows with the size of your order, and some deliver for free once your order is large enough. Pickup orders have no delivery fee.
  • Service Fee: CaterCow’s fee. It’s based on your order’s subtotal.
  • Restaurant Surcharge: Some restaurants add a surcharge to cover the extra costs of catering, like extra staff and packaging. You’ll only see this line on orders from those restaurants.
  • Sales Tax: If your order is tax exempt, your receipt shows Sales Tax Exempt in place of the tax. See My company is sales-tax exempt. Can we place orders?
  • Tip: Optional. Checkout starts with a suggested tip. Pick a different amount, or click Other to enter your own or choose Tip Later Or In Cash. You can also add or change a tip from your order’s page after you place it.

At checkout, hover over Service Fee, Delivery, or Restaurant Surcharge for a short description of each.
